Authentic Caribbean

Jamaican Heroes Tour

When you walk into the S Hotel in Montego Bay, it resonates that you are staying in Jamaica. There are life-size statues of Jamaican heroes made from recycled material, ranging from Bob Marley to Louisa Bennett (know as Miss Lou) and Jimmy Cliff. The artist brings them to life and each one is true to size. There is a plaque against each statue to tell you more about the said hero and the hotel offers a cultural tour.

S Hotel is truly a remarkable place. All the rooms are furnished with Jamaican-made furniture and feature iconic extras such as dominoes and a record player with a Bob Marley album. Crissa Hotels believes everybody has a little bit of Jamaican in them and they want everyone to connect with this, and enjoy the holiday of a lifetime.
This authentically Jamaican hotel is locally owned and managed and the warmth of the people embraces you like a warm hug. At S Hotel, you are assigned a go-to person as a friend, rather than a butler. You can also walk out of the hotel onto the hip strip and engage with locals, setting it apart from the larger resorts in Montego Bay.

See the Cool Runnings Bobsleigh at S Hotel

When the Jamaican bobsleigh team first qualified for the Olympics, it was such a momentous occasion it sparked a hit movie. The 1993 film Cool Runnings starred actor John Candy and told the story of how the team overcame all the odds to take up their place at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. The team finished in 30th place out of 41 competing teams. They did the country proud and so it is only fitting that at S Hotel, their legacy lives on with a replica bobsleigh on display.
If you would like to visit S Hotel and see the property for yourself we have some fabulous rates for the trade, see below.

Spanish Court is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. With 123-rooms, the hotel’s located right in the heart of New Kingston, a dynamic intersection of commerce and culture, perfectly situated to explore attractions such as Devon House, the Bob Marley Museum and take in the Blue Mountain Coffee Tour or hike.Devon HouseOne of Jamaica’s most celebrated historic landmarks, the Devon House Mansion is the architectural dream of Jamaica’s first black millionaire, George Stiebel. Having gained his wealth from gold mining in South America, Stiebel was among three wealthy Jamaicans who constructed elaborate homes during the late 19th century at the corner of Trafalgar Road and Hope Road. This corner fittingly became known as the Millionaire’s Corner. The Devon House mansion is a beautiful blend of Caribbean and Georgian architecture, furnished with an expertly curated collection of Jamaican, English and French antique pieces and reproductions. The Mansion overlooks a vast expanse of perfectly manicured and lush, green lawns. Stiebel’s legacy lives on with the beautifully maintained Devon House, which was declared a national monument in 1990 by the Jamaica National Heritage Trust. Today it is synonymous with fun, family entertainment and recreation in Kingston, where guests can tour, shop, dine and relax.

The Bob Marley Museum

Another iconic place to visit is The Bob Marley Museum, dedicated to the late reggae musician. The museum is located at 56 Hope Road, Kingston, and is Bob Marley’s former place of residence. The museum is situated on the site of the legendary musician’s home, which he purchased in 1975. This house, featuring 19th-century architecture, was Marley’s home until his transition in 1981. It was converted into a museum six years later by his wife, Mrs Rita Marley. The main museum displays Marley’s personal treasures. The property also features a well-equipped 80-seat theatre, a photographic gallery, a record shop and a gift shop filled with a wide array of Bob Marley memorabilia.

Blue Mountain Coffee Tour

Take a tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site where some of the most expensive coffee in the world is grown. Only coffee grown between 3,000 and 5,500 feet can be classified as Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee, while below 3,000 feet it is classified as Jamaica High Mountain Coffee. The mountains are 7,402 feet. Blue Mountain coffee has grown in Jamaica since 1728 when coffee was first introduced to the island. Many years of expertise have produced a smooth Arabica coffee that is sweet-toned and naturally alkaline, containing vitamins and nutrients. With its own microclimate, the weather conditions favour ideal growing conditions for ruby red coffee blossoms to grow. Sample the distinct flavour of Jamaican coffee on this tour and be sure to take a bag home with you to share with your friends.

Stroll around Speightstown for guests of Saint Peters Bay

The five-star Saint Peter’s Bay Luxury Resort and Residences on the West Coast of Barbados offers a range of elegant beachfront one, two, three and five bedroom residences and penthouses. You are within walking distance to Speightstown, the second largest city centre of Barbados. Back in the day, Speightstown was a hectic seaport that enjoyed a thriving trade with Bristol in England and was thus affectionately known as Little Bristol. Once protected by numerous forts, Speightstown is the site of Barbados’ only invasion which took place by Parliamentary forces from Oliver Cromwell. The locals were loyal to Charles I though and they protected their land thanks to these forts. These days rather than bars, the shore is packed with watering holes and eateries. Try out The Little Bristol Beach Bar which is great for drinks at sunset and famous for its shark wraps, Local and Co, which features two restaurants that showcase the finest produce produced on the island; the Orange Street Grocer which has delicious homemade cakes; the Sea Shed where you can get delicious nachos and Baia, which serves Peruvian fusion cuisine along the beachfront.
